Kune Kune Pigs

Kune kune pigs (pronounced “cooney cooney”) are a smart option for small farms. Kune kune means “fat and round” in the Maori language. These wattled, sweet-tempered, medium-sized pigs are native to New Zealand.

They have short, upturned snouts that discourage rooting, and they do not challenge fences. Kunekunes are grazing pigs and are able to grow on low inputs.  As a result they mature slowly but they are more than worth the wait.

We focus on health and function.  While trends may be to make faces shorter and pigs larger, our goals remain easy keeping and healthy animals.
